Satia Co.Plan summary:
For years, urban management in Iran's metropolitan cities has focused on the development of private transportation and passenger cars. The result of this approach has been a priority given to cars. As a result of this approach, cities have experienced traffic jams, delays and congestion, air pollution and its resulting problems, citizens' nervous disorders, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and silent deaths. Based on this, the new urban management approach in the metropolis of Arak has been founded on sustainable urban development, the development of clean and green transportation including public and mass transit, the development of walking and cycling transport, and the creation of restrictions and a reduction in the attractiveness of using private cars. The first phase of the pedestrian walkway construction plan in the central core of Arak city can be a major step toward achieving the goals of clean transportation development and pedestrian-oriented urban planning.

The economic, social, and even cultural development of any country is closely linked to its transportation industry, and until a country gives due importance to the growth and dynamism of its transportation, progress and economic and even social growth cannot be envisioned for that country. Understanding this, our country, like other countries seeking growth, has allocated parts of its development plans to transportation systems.
Therefore, the review of the laws and plans anticipated in the Fifth and Sixth Development Plans of the country, with a focus on the following headings, is considered:
- Development of public transportation
- Reduction of fuel consumption
- Reduction of air pollution
- National economy
- Environmental protection
- Social justice
In the plan to update the comprehensive urban and suburban transportation studies of the metropolis of Arak, the laws and provisions raised in relation to each of the above topics, which were also related to intra-city transportation, are extracted. The core of comprehensive transportation and traffic studies is based on origin-destination surveys. In this plan, a valuable database regarding the socio-economic characteristics of trip makers, trip purposes, mode of travel, land use, and ... is obtained at the beginning and end of each trip in Arak city. The main policies of the plan to update the comprehensive urban and suburban transportation studies of the metropolis of Arak include the following: drafting documents and related planning for
a) Urban transportation management in Arak based on sustainable urban development
b) Development of clean transportation including public and mass transit such as 2 dedicated BRT or LRT mass transit lines
c) Efficient and active urban bus system
d) Development of the taxi system in Arak city
e) Development of walking and cycling transport
f) Creating travel restrictions and reducing the attractiveness of using private cars.
