In order to protect this enduring heritage, restoration and roofing work on parts of the bazaar has been put on the agenda with the aim of preventing moisture infiltration, addressing damage caused by deterioration, and increasing the stability of the historic vaults.
The roofing work on the bazaar’s main passage has reached 80 percent completion, and the restoration of the Nozari caravanserai roof is also being carried out using traditional methods.
Protecting the historic bazaar of Arak, in addition to preserving the authenticity of its architecture, is considered an effective step in revitalizing the historic fabric, developing tourism, and preserving the city’s cultural identity for future generations.
